La noche del 7 de enero se llevaron a cabo los Globos de Oro 2018, en el Beverly Hilton Hotel de Los Angeles, California.
La jornada estuvo llena de sorpresas y polémicas: desde los atuendos que usaron todas las mujeres, previo acuerdo, de vestir de negro como señal de protesta por los constantes acosos sexuales en la industria cinematográfica, hasta el discurso de Oprah Winfrey quien terminó repitiendo "time's up" (el tiempo se acabó), siendo el grito de guerra que llama a acusar estos abusos.
Por otro lado, Chile fue representado en la ceremonia gracias a la película de Sebastián Leio. "Una Mujer Fantástica", protagonizada por la actriz Daniela Vega, fue desplazada por la alemana "In the Fade", quien se llevó la estatuilla a Mejor Película Extranjera.
